Visualising data on our base map

So, far the maps of the world we made are using vector shapefiles. In this section we will see more of how we can use tabular and other data formats that we can visualise on our maps.

Airports in India and the world

Download the airports.dat file and save it as a .csv file. Open QGIS and add the layer as a comma-separated data layer Layer menu -> Add Layer -> Add Delimited text layer

As we look at the data, the columns don’t seem to have any titles. Hence, we need to refer to the documentation of the data and add headers to the dataset in a text editor or MS Excel.
